

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Roseburg man was arrested Thursday after he led deputies on a a high-speed chase and didn't pay for his gasoline the night before.
Douglas County deputies responded to a call on Wednesday to the Kelly's Corner Chevron gas after a man had left without paying for his gasoline. Based on the description of the vehicle and the driver, they identified the suspect as 26-year-old Michael Gould of Roseburg. They later found his vehicle at his residence, but Gould was not there.
The next day, deputies found Gould driving the same vehicle on Hwy 99 South near M Street. They attempted to stop Gould but he fled onto Hwy 42 and then south on I-5. Deputies pursued Gould south on I-5 at at more than 100 mph. At about mile post 110, the Myrtle Creek Police Department deployed spike strips. Gould attempted to avoid the strips and crashed into the freeway center divider. He lost control of the vehicle and swerved off the freeway and up the embankment on the west side of the freeway.

Gould was arrested without further incident and lodged on charges of Attempting to Elude, Reckless Driving, Parole Violation and Third Degree Robbery (from the gas station incident).
