Local Stores Prepare for Super Bowl Sunday

By Heather Hintze

Eugene, Ore. -- The day before Super Bowl Sunday, football fans are stocking up on all the necessities in preparation for the big game, and local stores are getting ready to handle the crowd.

The Santa Clara Fred Meyer store Director says beer, chips and soda are the items most people are shopping for.

The store has extra staff on hand to make sure customers can find what they need.

"We have people stocking from early morning to the minute we close to keep it full," says Steve Winter, Fred Meyer store Director. "We have different displays all over the store that we bring in just to help maintain that in-stock condition."

The store director says a lot of people try to get their Super Bowl shopping done Saturday, but because the game starts later in the afternoon on Sunday, they expect a rush of people on game-day morning as well.
